Donation towards the running of the CH Forum?
Hi there, It's been a good while since I've asked for donations for the running of the Forum, but every now and then I need to try to offset the costs of the hosting and the time involved in keeping it up to date and supported. The costs aren't huge, but the ongoing hosting, SSL certificate etc. for...

Re: Malwarebytes blocks this site
Thanks for flagging this. I use MalwareBytes too, and not had an issue - so maybe something to do with browser and some plugins/malware on the local machine potentially.
Will investigate as far as I can....

I can assure from bitter experience that bullying and prejudice were alive and well in the 80s and early 90s.

Richard is right - and I’ve had advice, via CH, from the police that we should all avoid discussion on here until after any trial and verdict.

Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
Watched the second part tonight - harrowing. The use of the phrase “non-recent” abuse or “historical abuse” by CH has always grated with me - somehow made it maybe feel like ages ago, and maybe somehow less significant.....but have never been able to articulate quite why. The documentary explained h...

Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
A very good, if somewhat disturbing Part 11. It just shows how much influence the Church has in covering up it's abuse of juniors. I'm surprised there hasn't been more comment on here, given Bishop Ball's connections with CH during his tenure as Bishop of Chichester. I too am surprised so little co...

I fully support Rob in encouraging those with any information to come forward. Everything I’ve heard has helped me believe that the police team will be caring, supportive and empathetic. Sussex police can be reached on 01273 470101. Given the nature of what could be raised, PLEASE don’t publish anyt...

Re: Did anyone know?
Agree that all of that seems sensible measured approach now. Back in the day though, the accepted standards were very different - and I seem to recall parents literally signed over parental responsibility to the school, pretty much unconditionally. So more freedom (for good and ill) for the staff......

Re: Did anyone know?
I think the alcohol issue could be complex. Teachers were/are in-loco-parentis, and it’s perfectly acceptable for a parent to give alcohol to their child in the right way, in order to teach sensible alcohol consumption etc. Combine that with the Grecian’s Club where you could drink when you turned 1...

And, at what point does “hearing voices” move from being a psychological disorder to be hearing Jesus talking to you in response to prayer ?
