Swine flu - school closing for a week

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week
Thanks again everyone! I'm keeping everything crossed that all the other pupils are doing okay, and staff!
A friend just rang me, she'd heard about the school closure on our local radio station, Heart (Kent) on the news bulletin this morning.

Good to hear your youngest is slowly improving hope everyone else suffering copes okay.
My daughter is currently fine but was unwell quite a few weeks ago so perhaps there is hope that she's already had it but very mildly.
Not sure how I'll be looking after 3 or 4 sick children at once if the worst happens.

So pleased she's over the worst, lonelymom, and thanks again for taking the trouble to let us all know how the girls have been doing. They'll probably complain of "cotton-wool legs" when they try to get up but hey, what progress that'll be!
Sorry to hear about your daughter, Momto2, and truly hope she doesn't get it too badly.

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week
I heard in my local last night that one GP's surgery in Dorking was open Saturday morning to vaccinate its patients against swine flu.
Apparently, there were several doctors and nurses doing the job, and the queue ran outside the surgery and into the car-park.

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week
Lonleymom, so glad your daughter is showing signs of improvement, i was knocked down with ordinary flue last new year, 11 days I was off work the thing that got me was the chronic lack of energy, once started to feel better just getting upstairs wore me down. Im sure day by day she will gradually improve. Lots of love to you and your daughters x

Lonelymum's just asked me to update you all and thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately her little one has today been admitted to hospital having developed double pneumonia. She has been put on oxygen and intravenous antibiotics. I will let you all know when I hear anymore.

bl*ddy h*ll! I hope that lonelymum's daughter pulls through quickly. I was in an oxygen tent in St. Richard's Hospital in Chichester, due to double pneumonia, when I was 8 and a bit. Six months later I sat the entrance exam for Christ's Hospital. Now aged 61 I am still here to tell the tale, and medical technology has come on in leaps and bounds in the intervening years. Tell lonelymum that I am praying very hard for both her and her daughter....

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week
It sounds like her daughter is in the best place, and at least Lonelymom isn't now worrying about whether or not she should call the doctor, do anything more, etc. Intravenous antibiotics should work fairly quickly (whereas oral take about 48 hours to get into the system) so let's hope she turns the corner and is on the mend soon. I hope the hospital is being sympathetic about letting her stay and not sticking to rigid visiting hours.

It would be nice to know, but if that is not allowed it doesn't matter - God will know who we mean!

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week
I do know their names but without having asked permission I can't give them, & I don't want to worry Lonelymom at such an awful time for her. Is it necessary to name people in prayers? I really don't know, myself, having only sent out thoughts & requests in emergencies, to a "power stronger than me" that I couldn't identify if I were asked to !
Anyway, I'm sure Frances is right.

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week
of course, I was just thinking of putting them on the prayer list at church, which is awkward without a name, but it's not a problem - they will be remembered however.
