Map of Old Blue locations [http://www.frappr.com/oldblues]
Something I threw-into-the-pot a long time ago for the CHA to consider was the publishing of a map of Old Blues, showing roughly where they are around the world.
This will help people identify where local clusters of Old Blues are, and also show how far around the world we're spread!
Initially I was planning this to be done with Map Point or something similar, just based on post-code.
BUT - having had a little play with earth.google.com, it would appear that we could easily build-up a map of Old Blues on there, as a community layer of some sort?
Anyone played enough with Google Earth to know if this looks doable??
If nothing else, a forum member-map could be interesting!
[EDIT:- Here's the post with the Frappr link in it, to save you reading the whole lot to find it! - viewtopic.php?p=23508#23508 ]

Nice - a much better title than the one I wrote.
I guess there'd have to be two google-layers - a "rough old blues" and an "fit old blues"?

That would turn this thread into one of those nasty "rate my ..." things. Like rate my kitten/puppy/bunny (all work safe).jtaylor wrote:I guess there'd have to be two google-layers - a "rough old blues" and an "fit old blues"?

Old Blues
I am assuming I can give participants access.
If you are on MySpace, Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, or AOL, I can get it from there as well.
Probably better if you pm your e-mail.

In my normal bumbling way I seem to have got it half right again
I set up a mao called Old Blues, which is probably supposed to be my personal map.
I then discovered that you can form groups, so I put one up called CHForum (http://www.frappr.com/chforum) which now has 2 members, DbtS and YT.
How David got on their I don't know.
I am told by the Frappr powers that be that when I invite and people accept, they go on my personal map and can see it as well.
In order to invite friends to join your map and Frappr simply log in to your account and click on "Add Friends to Map" near the top of the page. You will be prompted for their email addresses and that will send them invitations. If they accept, they appear on your map and can view it as well.
I have a feeling that the correct way is for people to form their own map with their friends, and then subscribe to the group map.
Anyway, for those that are interested we have 2 maps, so take your pick.
The maps themselves are Google Maps so if you zoom on my location, it is the village house in Spain, not the flat in Valencia.
I think that if you have your own map, you can also refine the location to make it more accurate.
Happy mapping.

I bumbled around a bit too and am not entirely sure how I got there, so I emailed John to say I didn't really understand how it all worked. Matt seems to have done something too - lots of photos which he subsequently removed! Or have I got that wrong as well.jhopgood wrote:In my normal bumbling way I seem to have got it half right again
